I made call to one of my profs for an update over what was going on with my student teaching. With the workload, the paper trail and the uphill battle of making every day a little unique (an driven by energy and student participation), she relayed a few words of wisdom she heard from a motivational speaker this week:
If you are working more than your kids, then something is wrong with your approach to teaching.
I think about this statement and am so much happier to remember that the next couple weeks will be devoted to TeachBacks, where the students will be presenting chapters of the book as opposed to me. I am tired of my podium and my clipboard and I can’t wait to see what they bring to the table.
