But the companies [Verizon & Google] have discussed the future of the internet at length, and they’ve outlined several principles for the FCC to consider moving forward.
Sure, they may be the biggest companies in their respective markets, but why are they not challenging themselves to keep the internet open for all devices? Some possibilities:
- “Let’s make more money.”
- “Let’s make more money off of devices that are designed for a short lifespan.”
- “Let’s make more money off of devices that are already designed for a short lifespan and are incredibly connected to people’s social and personal lives.”
- “Invest in infrastructure? Wait, you mean actually use our profits?”
- “Let’s make our own Internet…”
Scared yet? Well, no wonder Google scored a “C” on their report card…
