Reading Supports in OSX

This entry is part 2 of 9 in the series Assistive Technologies in OSX

There are three main types of assistive technologies built into MacBook Airs running OSX that can help students with reading.  Since most reading is done in the web browser, Safari offers a Reading View that helps eliminate distractions for students.  There are also Text-to-Speech options available where the computer’s voice will read text found on a web page or in another app.  Students struggling to understand words in a text can use the built-in dictionary to look words up as they read.
